Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to your message of 24 March.

Firstly, could I just clarify that the EU legislation requires all foods produced since 
September '98 and which have been found to contain genetically modified soya or maize to 
be labelled by September 1999.  This is to allow retailers sufficient time to sell through 
existing stock and make changes to labels etc.  We are currently completing the investigations 
into our lunchtime products and where we find that they contain genetically modified soya or 
maize they will be labelled accordingly, and certainly before September.  We will also go 
beyond the requirements of the legislation and be labelling any lunchtime products which 
contain derivatives of genetically modified soya and maize.

Currently 80% of our Boots brand lunchtime food products have already been identified as 
being free from genetically modified soya or maize, or their derivatives.  The remaining 
20% therefore may or may not contain genetically modified soya or maize.

As of today the products on the list below have been identified as
containing genetically modified soya or maize, or their derivatives and will be labelled 
accordingly over the coming months.  The first two products have already been relabelled.
