Subject: Agriculture and Food Commission in Albanian Parliament votes for ban of GMO for 5 years.

Dear friends,
Today the Commission of Agriculture and Food in Albanian Parliament voted 
for ban of GMOs for a 5 year period and appointed the Ministry of 
Environment to prepare the all legal framework for GMOs during such period.

This decision was  strongly influenced by environmental NGOs in Albania 
(24 environmental NGOs signed for "Albania GMOs free country), scientists
and academicians (45 scientists and academicians signed an open letter 
to Parliament for GMOs ban in Albania),  Albanian Consumer Association 
and Organic Agriculture Association.
