Top Europe chefs take up cudgels against GM foods - DEC 13, 2002

The campaign is being waged by Euro-Toques, an association that brings
together the prestigious hats of 3,000 European chefs, including 500 in
France where the movement was founded. The group is growing into the greatest
food lobby in Europe at both EU and national levels. Over the past two years,
the movement has become a culinary force, backed by 80,000 members of
France's leading restaurant syndicate, the Union of Hotel Professionals and
Industries. Under its banner, the country's three-starred Michelin chefs are
retaliating against the effects of the 'McDonaldisation' of European eating
habits.
