The Rohan family of aristocrats built a palace in the centre of Strasbourg. It is said that they employed artists to paint landscape scenes on the window panes so as not to see the city and its inhabitants.
My project consisted of blocking the window panes with panels, each of which was pierced with an aperture containing a reducing lens which projected an image of the exterior inside the room.
The panoramic image, created using two slides of the same image, is projected from inside onto the windows. The windows thus became a double screen on which the different projected images interpenetrated.
La famille d’aristocrate des Rohan a fait construire un château au centre de Strasbourg. On pense qu’ils ont commandé à des artisans de peindre les fenêtres pour ne pas voir les alentours et les habitants.
Mon intervention dans ce projet consiste à obturer les fenêtres avec des panneaux percés d’une lentille réductrice qui projète une image de l’extérieur à l’intérieur de la pièce.
L’image d’un paysage, fabriquée avec deux diapositives (issues d’une même image), est projetée de l’intérieur sur les fenêtres. Les fenêtres sont un double écran sur lequel les images projetées s’interpénètrent.
