SMSGateWay is an e-mail to SMS gateway which runs under Windows 98/NT/2000. It allows sending of SMS text messages from any SMTP capable e-mail system to any SMS enabled GSM/PCS phone. SMTP capable e-mail systems include Novell GroupWise, Microsoft
exchange, cc:Mail and Lotus Notes.
SMSGateway is typically used by ISPs, information providers and companies wishing to add SMS text messaging and/or notification to their existing services. The SMSGateWay software uses an open specification 'queue' mechanism to allow
inbound messages to pass in via e-mail, web or custom application interfaces, depending on your individual requirements.
Examples of data sent via SMSGateWay include:
- E-mail notification
- Bank Balance
- Stock Quotes
- Logos
- Ringtones
- VCARD Business Card Entries
- VCALENDAR Calendar Entries
- WAP Configuration
SMSGateWay currently provides a maximum throughput of around 720 SMS messages per gateway per hour.
For applications requiring higher throughput, an unlimited number of additional gateways may be added to provide a linear performance increase. Thus 4 gateways, for example, would provide a throughput of around 2880 SMS messages per hour.
Gateways may also be dedicated to certain phone providers if required, therefore allowing differing service levels by provider.
